David Iain Brown

David Iain Brown is a Glasgow based abstract painter, he has a Masters degree in Fine Art from Gray’s School of Art 

‘Colour has always been one of the key elements within my practice and the building up of layers is an important part of my process . Starting out as a printmaker I feel that I bring that into the way I paint.I want to show the journey within the piece by showing sections of previous layers in the work. I love to push how far colours can sit next to or on top of each other and have recently been drawn to reclaiming rags/ canvas from the studio as the starting point of my paintings; a way to push the work to the next stage.’
