Sophie Bailey

Sophie Bailey is a contemporary ceramicist and is a founding member of the Stinsford Group. 

Sophie’s interest in pottery can be traced back to a childhood surrounded by contemporary ceramics. Her father worked for the Oxford Gallery which in the 70’s and 80’s was at the forefront of the art and design scene. The inspiration continued with frequent visits to Crete where she got intimately acquainted with the pottery of the ancient Minoan Civilisation. Sophie’s work is vessel-based and mainly thrown using stoneware or earthenware clay.
